IOTC Beginning Dog Training Pathway

The Indianapolis Obedience Training Club’s Beginning Dog Training Pathway is a transformative journey designed to help you and your dog build a strong, joyful, and lasting bond. Our comprehensive program is structured to provide both you and your dog with the skills, confidence, and support needed to succeed in everyday life.

What You’ll Experience

• Orientation Class: Start your journey with an orientation meeting where you’ll connect with our experienced trainers. You’ll leave your dog at home for this first session. You will learn about collars, techniques, and what to expect from training. This session sets the foundation for success and ensures you’re fully prepared for the weeks ahead.

Beginning Training Course (7 Weeks): Over the next six weeks, you and your dog will attend weekly classes focused on essential training and obedience skills. You’ll master heeling exercises, sit-stays, stand for exam, and more. These practical skills are designed to make your dog an exceptional part of your family and community.

Continuing Education Course (2 Months): After completing the beginning course, you’ll seamlessly transition into our Continuing Education course as an interim member of IOTC. Here, you and your dog will deepen your training  knowledge through hands-on training, real-world practice, and valuable exposure to other dogs. This phase builds confidence and helps your dog become an outstanding canine citizen.

IOTC Membership: After completing the Beginning Dog Training Pathway you will have the opportunity to become a full sustaining member of IOTC. See our membership page for details and befits.
